Mayfly press release

For immediate release.

Pop-up record store Mayfly lives for one day in Greenpoint's Kill Devil Hill, devoted to the vibrant local independent creative community.

On Sunday, February 28th from noon until 8 PM, Kill Devil Hill (170 Franklin Avenue) will metamorphose into Mayfly, a record store, performance space, and art gallery formed by a coalition of New York City musical and visual artists. Mayfly will feature a full day of live performances from Luke Wesley, Bryan Dunn, Paul Basile, Andi Rae Healy, Matt Jones, Lara Ewen, and many more (full artist list to follow), as well as photographs of local musicians by Cameron Sterling, Jen McManus, Katrina Baldwin, and Emily Raw. Emblazoned "Listen Local", limited edition t-shirts hand printed by Masha Gvozdov will be available for one day only, and listening stations will allow customers to burn their own mixes or just sample the remarkable diversity of the local music scene. All proceeds will go directly to the creators themselves, many of whom will double as staff.

The brainchild of Brooklyn artist Emily Raw and Brooklyn musician Lara Ewen, Mayfly is made possible by the innovative retail team behind Kill Devil Hill, which is allowing artists to rent out its space day-by-day until its critically acclaimed one-of-a-kind antique shop reopens on April 1, 2010.
